Free business start-up course for budding entrepreneurs

Business start-up course

For those who want to be their own boss, the Thames Valley Berkshire Business Growth Hub is running a free business start-up course to help budding entrepreneurs across Berkshire turn their business ideas into reality.

Following the success of its second Pre-Accelerator Programme earlier this year, the Berkshire Business Growth Hub is again offering Berkshire residents the chance to apply for the five-week fully funded course, which will equip attendees with the fundamental skills and knowledge they need to successfully start their own business.

The Pre-Accelerator Programme, which is being delivered by VitalSix on behalf of the Berkshire Business Growth Hub, includes a mix of half-day workshops, networking and mentoring sessions. Covering everything from creating a business plan and raising finance to developing sales and marketing strategies, the course culminates in the entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas to a panel of experts in a Dragon’s Den style event.

There are only 15 free places available on the programme, which begins on Friday 4th October 2019 and runs every Friday for five weeks. The deadline for initial applications is midnight on 5th September 2019.

Martin Hall, Manager of the Berkshire Business Growth Hub, explains: “Our Pre-Accelerator course is ideal for anyone looking to start a business for the first time. It is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and confidence they need to get their new venture off to the best possible start. Through a series of five workshops, attendees receive practical advice from experienced business owners, through VitalSix, and have the chance to network with fellow entrepreneurs.

“We received excellent feedback from our first two programmes with 100% of attendees stating they would recommend the course to others. We expect our October programme will be very popular, so we would advise those interested to apply early.”

Ritesh Nigam from Reading, who was keen to get his food allergy app idea off the ground, was one of the budding entrepreneurs to undertake the programme earlier this year. “The Pre-Accelerator has given me the tools to take my business idea to the next level,” explains Ritesh. “The business advisers were very good, they really helped me evolve my idea into a viable business. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone starting a business.”

Thames Valley Berkshire Business Growth Hub offers fully funded, impartial support services and expert one-to-one advice to start-ups and established businesses in Berkshire. The service includes free clinics and masterclasses on a range of business issues, alongside a special High Growth Programme to provide intensive tailored support to SMEs with high growth potential.

Delivered by Oxford Innovation, the service is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
